Betaine, also known as trimethylammonium acid, as a feed additive, betaine has the functions of promoting animal growth, inducing food quality, relieving heat stress, regulating animal reproductive performance and so on. Betaine provides methylation for most of the body's methylation reactions by participating in methionine metabolism.
betaine as attractant, adding 0.5% ~ 1.5% betaine in the fish feed, for all the fish and crustaceans such as shrimp, smell and taste, have strong stimulation, with food calling force strong, improving feed palatability, shorten time, promoting digestion and absorption, to accelerate the growth and avoid feed fish and shrimp and waste caused by water pollution, and so on.Adding betaine in the feed can shorten 1/3 to 1/2 feeding time and increase feed intake of macrobrachium rosenbergii. The feed containing betaine had obvious bait effect on carps and wild scaly anteater, but had no obvious bait effect on grass carps. Betaine can also enhance the taste sensation of other amino acids to fish, and enhance the effect of amino acids.
Betaine can improve production performance, promote the growth of fish and shrimp, enhance disease resistance and immunity, improve the survival rate and feed conversion rate. The addition of betaine has significant effect on promoting the growth and survival rate of juvenile fish and shrimp.
The weight gain of rainbow trout fed with betaine increased by 23.5% and the feed conversion ratio decreased by 14.01%.Weight gain of Atlantic salmon increased by 31.9% and feed conversion ratio decreased by 20.8%.Adding 0.3% to 0.5% betaine in the compound diet of 2-month-old carp increased the daily gain by 41% to 49% and reduced the feed coefficient by 14% to 24%.Diet supplemented with 0.3% betaine pure or compound can obviously promote the growth of tilapia and reduce the feed coefficient. When 1.5% betaine was added into the bait for river crab, the net weight gain of river crab was increased by 95.3%, the survival rate was increased by 38%, and the faster growth rate and higher survival rate were obtained.
